ABOUT TESS
Tess Posthumus is a bartender and freelance hospitality professional. She travels around the globe and owns two bars in Amsterdam: Flying Dutchmen Cocktails & Dutch Courage, where she and her team focus on building a true cocktail culture in the Netherlands.
For eight years she worked at one of the best bars in the world: Door 74 in Amsterdam, going on to win several national and international competitions.
In 2017 Tess opened her first bar, Flying Dutchmen Cocktails, where she and her team focus on neo-classic cocktails.
In spring 2020 Tess opened her second Amsterdam bar, Dutch Courage, which has a strong focus on Dutch spirits, particularly genever, and their heritage.
When she’s not running her bars, Tess is an in-demand hospitality consultant, (co-)owner of Perfect Serve Barshow Amsterdam, Difford’s Guide Netherlands, Amsterdam Cocktail Week and responsible for the bar program of VANE Skybar at hotel NH Collection Hotel Eindhoven Centre, and successful author.
She has published the two books ‘Cocktails with Tess’ & ‘Masterclass: Cocktails’ with Carrera Culinair, and developed her own set of The Collection by Tess Posthumus bar tools.
In June 2023, Tess placed in the top 50 of Bar World 100’s Most Influential Industry Figures.
