London Cocktail Week Announces “2020 will go ahead”

News flash – socialising has not been completely cancelled this year as London Cocktail Week announces they will be going ahead! This October will see the world’s biggest celebration of cocktails return, not just for a week, but for an entire month. Here, you can dust off your feel-good outfit (peel off the lockdown joggers) and get ready to flash your Festival Pass and drink your way through an incredible list of £6 Signature Serves from some of London’s best bars. This larger than life celebration shines a spotlight on the world’s finest drinks offerings in London – the epicentre of the world’s cocktail scene. In 2020 the restructured festival will instil life back into the hospitality industry, helping to get the bars and bartenders of London back on their feet.

The genius creators

This iconic festival is co-owned and organised by the dream duo Hannah Sharman-Cox and Siobhan Payne, two esteemed members of the Global Bartending talent team. London Cocktail Week began in 2010 and to date the festival has welcomed hundreds of thousands of guests, inspired a new generation of Londoners to demand better drinking experiences and injected millions of pounds of revenue directly back into the London hospitality trade. The aim of the festival is to be the middle point between the trade and the consumer, encouraging more people to drink better drinks in better bars. On an international stage, the festival has become a blueprint for multiple Cocktail Weeks across the world and is universally recognised to be the best example of a cocktail festival globally.

This will be a welcomed event to re-energise the social scene in London and get the cogs of the drinks industry turning again. Hannah and Siobhan, or HANDS and we now lovingly know them as, say:

“We’re beyond delighted to announce that London Cocktail Week will be able to go ahead under such trying circumstances for the hospitality industry in general. To know that we have such incredible support from drinks brands as well as our bar partners and really excitingly – the Mayor of London’s office has given us such renewed enthusiasm for this incredible event we own and run. There’s months of hard graft coming up but knowing we’re doing our bit to reignite the industry right now makes it all worth while.”

Where, when, how

The UK bar scene is now second to none and this festival is a celebration of not only leading-edge drinks, but the uncompromising enthusiasm of the bartending community. World class bartenders across the capital will be infusing their flair into innovative and creative drinks using the very finest ingredients to serve up £6 cocktails for Festival Pass holders. On top of that, some of London’s best venues will be hosting immersive brand takeovers or extended special menus crafting signature serves especially for London Cocktail Week 2020.

London Cocktail Week is about being a part of something truly unique and inclusive, celebrating carefully curated cocktails, and the celebrating the people creating them. There’s something for everyone, from distillery tours to masterclasses, exclusive tastings to bar takeovers.

Going digital

Now more than ever, safety is the number one priority, especially when hosting events. That’s why every bar, brand and bartender have been cherry-picked for their excellence, adhering to the strictest government guidelines. This year will also see changes where events will be available to experience via digital platforms. But don’t worry, live events will still be taking place, continuing the true essence of the festival. Yet another reason to get behind this exciting event. The event timetable is put online one month before the festival, keep up to date here (to be updated)

This event gets bigger and better with each year, so expect 2020 to be one of the best ones yet. It’s been one heck of a year so far, so what better way to end it than to pledge support and do your bit to help to rebuild the hospitality industry.
